Are you an experienced Practice Manager or Accounts Manager looking to join a respected and growing accountancy firm where you can genuinely influence both clients and staff development?
Our client is a well-established, award-winning chartered accountancy and advisory firm with a strong reputation across the West Midlands. Known for its client-first approach, straightforward advice, and long-standing relationships with businesses across the region, the firm combines the resources of a larger practice with a highly personable and supportive culture.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to work closely with the Directors, oversee a substantial client portfolio, and support the development of junior and senior team members.
The RoleAs Practice Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio generating approximately £400,000 in annual fees
, ensuring clients receive a high-quality service while maintaining strong commercial and operational control.
- Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors
- Reviewing statutory accounts before Director sign-off
- Reviewing corporate and personal tax returns
- Reviewing VAT returns and management accounts
- Acting as the primary relationship manager for clients
- Conducting client meetings and advising on accounting and tax matters
- Managing workflow, WIP, recoverability, and fee note generation
- Supporting and developing team members through regular 1-2-1s and performance management
- Working closely with Directors and presenting finalised accounts and tax work for approval
- Ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are consistently met
We are keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Previous experience as an Accounts Manager, Practice Manager, or Senior Manager within an accountancy practice
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification, although qualified-by-experience candidates will be considered
- Strong accounts review experience
- Corporate and personal tax review knowledge
- Experience managing a client portfolio within practice
- Previous staff management and mentoring experience
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of WIP management and billing
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
