The Role
An established technology manufacturer is seeking a Production Technician to support the accurate and timely delivery of customer orders. The role involves the manufacture, modification, inspection, calibration, and repair of electronic instruments, working within a quality-driven production environment.
This position would suit someone with hands-on electronics assembly experience who enjoys working to high standards in a structured manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Assembly
Assemble products and small sub-assemblies in line with defined processes and work instructions
Modify and rework electronic instruments to meet customer-specific requirements
Carry out soldering tasks, including through-hole and surface-mount components
Support production output by maintaining appropriate stock levels of assemblies and finished units
Inspection, Calibration & Repair
Perform incoming inspection of instruments returned for service or repair
Carry out calibration activities using specialist equipment and controlled gas systems
Calibrate electronic instruments using bespoke tools and fixtures
Characterise sensors to trained competency levels and manage sensor inventory
Inspect equipment and record quality and performance data accurately
Diagnose and repair units within defined training limits, escalating complex issues when required
Quality, Process & Safety
Verify completed equipment against agreed quality and process standards
Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and documentation accurately
Work safely within a laboratory and production environment, including controlled substances
Take ownership of the workspace and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow
Support the development and continuous improvement of production processes
Team & Development
Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider production team
Support the training of new or cross-skilled colleagues when required
Remain flexible and adaptable to changing production priorities
Skills & Experience Required
Practical soldering experience (through-hole and surface mount)
Experience assembling small electronic sub-assemblies
Background in electronics manufacturing or production environments
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Confident using manual and electronic hand tools
Strong problem-solving skills
Comfortable working at pace while maintaining accuracy
Willingness to carry out some manual handling
Training & Development
Comprehensive training provided, including product-specific tools, calibration techniques, and safety procedures
