CNC Sliding Head Machinist 6784
Location: Coventry
Hours: Double days
Salary: 17.77 an hour
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist
- Setting and operating CNC sliding head machines to produce precision components to tight tolerances.
- Working with materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass and plastics.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacture.
- Editing programmes and making offset adjustments using Fanuc or similar controls.
- Carrying out first off inspection and in process quality checks using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
- Ensuring machines are maintained, tooling is replaced as required and downtime is minimised.
- Working to production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
- Adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
- Key Skills of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC sliding head machines.
- Strong understanding of Fanuc controls or similar systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
- Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment.
- Competent using a range of measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to shifts and overtime where required.
Key Skills of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC sliding head machines within a precision engineering or automotive environment.
- Strong understanding of Fanuc controls.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Experience producing components to tight tolerances.
- Confident using a range of inspection and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced manufacturing environment
