Production Operator

Overview

We’re looking for a Production Operator in Coventry to help us make some of the UK’s favourite snacks like Doritos and Wotsits. If you enjoy solving problems and working with machines, this could be a good job for you.

Reports to: Line Operations Manager
Direct reports: None
Working Hours: Continental days shift pattern (e.g. 4 on, 4 off), 12‑hour shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
Salary: £37,704.78

The Process/Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) directly influences line performance through operating and specific equipment in their zones. Working as part of a collaborative team of PMO’s, the priority is to execute the operational processes in their span of control and report any issues or defects to the Site Expert & Trainer (SET) in the first instance, progressing to Shift Technicians (STs), Operational Team Leaders (OTLs), and ultimately to the Daily Direction Setting (DDS)/QCDM process for visibility of top issues.

• Safely operate and adhere to standards
• Proactively work to improve safety, for example raising and helping to resolve near misses
• Own the execution of the Centreline (CL) Standards on their equipment
• Own basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inspection and lubrication, as part of an autonomous maintenance system
• Identify and log issues/defects on equipment using the appropriate systems
• Execute equipment change‑over autonomously
• Complete line quality checks and ensure adherence to quality standards
• Adhere to escalation process for any unresolved issues during the shift
• Transfer information to the next shift PMO using the site’s recognised shift handover logs
• Share knowledge, coach and support PMO’s
• Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset by proactively participating in the site’s CI process and everyday problem solving
