Parker is seeking a Furnace Operative – Rota Shift Furnace Deck, to support high‑temperature furnace operations and associated manufacturing activities. This role is suited to candidates who are practical, safety‑focused, detail‑oriented, and able to follow defined procedures in a controlled manufacturing environment.
The Furnace Operative will be responsible for supporting furnace deck operations, including the operation and monitoring of high‑temperature furnaces, preparation of furnace loads, handling of carbon and graphite components, and completion of associated manufacturing tasks.
The role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, process discipline, accurate data recording, and teamwork. The successful candidate will work to established procedures and production requirements while supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing area.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor high‑temperature furnaces using DeltaV SCADA systems.
- Set up and operate the SES Steam Ejector System.
- Load and unload furnaces and carousels safely and efficiently.
- Prepare CVI furnaces for loading, including removal of graphite furniture for cleaning.
- Disassemble jigs and infiltration stacks, ensuring serial numbers are accurately annotated and recorded.
- Weigh discs and input data accurately using SAP.
- Build infiltration stacks in accordance with defined work instructions.
- Manufacture carbon bungs to required standards.
- Support activities within the cloth manufacturing cell.
- Cut and lay up carbon discs using both automated and manual lay‑up processes.
- Assemble jigs for furnace and production operations.
- Apply AO paint to machined discs in line with process requirements.
- Assist with clipping activities in the assembly area.
- Provide ceramics support, including: shot blasting, laser part marking.
- Follow all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure production data is entered correctly.
- Support housekeeping and workplace organisation standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, engineers and support teams to meet production deadlines.
- Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to: follow instructions, work instructions and operating procedures accurately; analyse data effectively and identify issues or inconsistencies; communicate clearly through good verbal and written communication skills; build and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers, clients and colleagues; remain organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple tasks; work independently and prioritise tasks with minimal supervision;

Skills:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, web browsers. - Desirable: SAP experience, DeltaV SCADA experience.
- 0–1 year of experience desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, furnace operations, ceramics, composites, aerospace or a controlled production environment would be advantageous.
