Role Description
The Hydraulic Fitter will perform hands‑on assembly, disassembly, repair, and testing of a wide range of hydraulic equipment, including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and accumulators. Day‑to‑day tasks include fault‑finding, stripping and inspecting units, replacing and fitting components, conducting pressure and performance tests, and ensuring all work meets company quality and safety standards. The role involves working closely with the workshop team to prioritise jobs, maintain accurate records of work completed, and support service exchange and re‑certification activities.
This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Coventry, requiring consistent attendance at the company’s workshop and repair facilities.
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic fitting skills, including assembly, disassembly, and repair of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, and accumulators.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and manufacturer documentation for a variety of hydraulic systems.
- Experience using workshop machinery and tools (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinding and honing equipment, torque tools, measuring instruments).
- Knowledge of hydraulic testing procedures, pressure and flow measurement, and safe operation of test rigs and equipment.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards relevant to workshop and hydraulic operations; commitment to safe working practices.
- Good problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to diagnose faults in hydraulic components and systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a busy workshop environment.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, or a closely related field is beneficial.
- Previous experience in hydraulic repair, maintenance, or industrial engineering is preferred but strong practical aptitude will be considered.
