Machine Operator (CNC)
Life Kitchens, part of the Danesmoor Group, is seeking a multi‑skilled operator for our manufacturing site in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will run CNC machines, ensuring all components are accounted for and quality checked, and will support internal customer‑supplier relationships across the production process.
Immediate Priorities- Understand the factory flow.
- Gain knowledge of manufacturing tolerances and specifications.
- Learn quality standards and adhere to them.
- Understand Health & Safety procedures and required PPE.
- Confidently use Excel for daily KPI capture.
- Record non‑conforming issues via the SMR procedure and report to supervision.
- Collaborate with internal suppliers/customers on quality issues.
- Maintain housekeeping duties and complete daily maintenance check sheets (PPM).
- Operate drilling/CNC machinery.
- Meet set KPIs – output per hour.
- Set up machines (calibrate, clean, etc.).
- Feed raw materials or parts to semi‑automated machines.
- Assist in other areas of the factory as required.
- Ensure all components meet visual and dimensional quality standards before leaving the site, supporting OTIF targets.
- Pack and handle all products acceptably to prevent breakage during loading and transit.
- Follow SOPs and risk assessments to work safely; report any variations to supervision.
- Report non‑conforming products to manufacturing tolerance; capture via SMR for root cause analysis.
- Raise recuts through MES.
- Assist in the manufacture of panels and cabinets as per production plans when required.
- Maintain equipment and plant to maximise uptime and ensure the work area meets Health & Safety and presentation requirements.
- Document production jobs via departmental KPI data capture.
- Control consumable supplies to prevent stock‑outs and liaise with onsite suppliers where applicable.
- Carry out other tasks and duties as required.
- Maintain a positive attitude and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform close inspection work and accurately differentiate between materials.
- Follow SOP requirements with minimal supervision.
- Solve problems and improve processes.
- Communicate and organise effectively.
- Plan and prioritise workload efficiently.
- Operate resiliently in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations is advantageous.
- Proven experience as a machine operator.
- Experience in manufacturing/building KBB industry products.
Mon – Fri 7:30 – 3:30. Overtime available as required. 1 × 10‑minute break and 1 × 20‑minute lunch daily. Possibility of moving to future shifts (6 am‑2 pm & 2 pm‑10 pm).
