Job Description & How to Apply Below
Join a stable Coventry manufacturer on permanent days, earn up to £40,000, finish early every Friday, and receive genuine investment in your training and qualifications. This is a hands on mechanical maintenance role, not an electrical job wearing a misleading title.
Positions Available: x2 Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanically Biased)
Location:
Coventry
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 + Benefits Package
Shifts Available:
Permanent Days | Monday to Friday
Some maintenance roles advertise themselves as “mechanically biased” and then hand you a laptop, point at a PLC and expect miracles.
This one is genuinely mechanical.
An established, family owned manufacturer in Coventry is recruiting two Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join its engineering team.
You’ll be joining a stable manufacturing business employing more than 1,000 people, with turnover exceeding £200 million and products supplied to customers across more than 70 countries.
What’s in it for you?
* Salary up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
* Permanent Monday to Friday day shifts | Early finish every Friday.
* Annual salary reviews and performance related bonus
* 23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays | Christmas shutdown.
* Overtime paid at time and a half when available.
* External and in house training opportunities.
Your working hours
There are two shift patterns available:
Shift One
Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
Friday: 7:00am – 2:45pm
Shift Two
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Friday: 7:00am – 2:45pm
No rotating days and nights. No permanent afternoon shift. You’ll finish early enough on a Friday to remember that weekends are supposed to exist.
What will you be maintaining?
The Coventry site manufactures products used across commercial, industrial and logistics buildings.
You’ll work across a broad mix of bespoke production equipment, including:
* Conveyors, Bandsaws, Gearboxes, Rollers and shafts etc.
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Resin silos.
* Waterjet cutters, Thermoforming and moulding equipment, CNC machinery such as Lathes and milling machines
* Mitsubishi PLCs.
* Process heating, plumbing and gas systems.
There is a combination of modern and older machinery on site, so this role needs somebody who can properly investigate a fault rather than repeatedly pressing reset and hoping the machine has learned its lesson.
What will you be doing?
This is primarily a core maintenance role, with the focus on:
* Attending machinery breakdowns, completing planned and preventative maintenance, and carrying out mechanical repairs and basic electrical fault finding.
* Diagnosing hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
* Investigating recurring breakdowns.
* Carrying out 5 Why and root cause analysis.
* Developing solutions to prevent faults from returning.
* Refurbishing and improving machinery.
* Completing basic fabrication and welding work.
There may still be opportunities to support improvement work, but this is not a project engineering position dressed up as maintenance.
What experience do you need?
The business is ideally looking for somebody with a good mechanical maintenance background.
You should have experience with:
* Mechanical maintenance and repairs.
* Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
* Basic electrical fault finding.
* Reading engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.
* Planned and reactive maintenance.
* Fault diagnosis and logical problem solving.
* Basic fabrication, welding or machinery refurbishment.
* Working independently and managing your own workload.
An engineering apprenticeship, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 qualification would be expected.
Experience working with machine tools, CNC machinery, Mitsubishi PLCs, SCADA systems, milling or turning would be useful, but it is not essential.
The manager is not looking for somebody who knows everything already. The company is willing to invest in training where somebody has the right mechanical foundation and attitude.
What is the working environment like?
You’ll join an fantastic maintenance team made up of a variety of different skillsets.
The manager wants somebody who is…
