At M Group Telecom, were enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.
We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.
You'll be working within private networks, Where we find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.

We're recruiting a Specialist Engineer (Routing) to join our team in the West Midlands, supporting a major telecommunications customer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled team delivering critical network services and transformation programmes within a complex operational environment.

What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for routing design, validation, and circuit production for SDH/PDH telecommunication services across major client Optical Transmission Networks. These services range from 64

Kb to 2

Mb, including Ethernet over SDH, following detailed routing specifications. Working within a supportive, growth-focused team, you will also provide 2nd and 3rd line network engineering support at customer sites. This includes managing complex technical incidents, maintaining clear communication with specialist engineers and client personnel, and ensuring SLA compliance. You will also be expected to follow contract governance processes and consistently prioritise site health, safety, and operational standards.
What youll bring?
Youll bring extensive operational experience, ideally within complex technology delivery environments, along with strong technical knowledge of network transmission systems such as Ericsson OMS and ABB Fox. Essential to success in this role is proven experience using FNT for network routing and inventory management, with knowledge of Cramer and SIAT (impact analysis tooling) highly desirable. You should have hands-on experience with NMC/NMS environments and a solid understanding of SDH/PDH, MPLS, and DWDM technologies.

Excellent communication and customer-facing skills are essential.
These roles will support the delivery of both business-as-usual (BAU) operations and project activities, including the Optel Gen3 programme, which will require a degree of out-of-hours working. You will conduct root cause analysis for major incidents, contribute to SLA and performance metrics, and participate in a rotational on-call schedule as part of the team.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must hold, or be eligible to successfully obtain and maintain, UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
