Introduction
LFE Engineering Ltd is looking for enthusiastic new apprentices to join our experienced fabrication team in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical welding and fabrication skills while working towards a Level 2 Welder apprenticeship with Coventry College.

What You ll DoWorking alongside skilled welders, fabricators and supervisors, you will learn how to safely produce fabricated steel components from engineering drawings. Your work will include material preparation, setting up welding equipment, welding and fabrication, checking completed work and maintaining a safe, tidy workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Read and work from engineering drawings, job instructions and welding specifications.
- Prepare, mark out, cut, form, fit and assemble materials and components.
- Set up and use welding and fabrication equipment under appropriate supervision.
- Develop competence in relevant welding processes, including MIG/MAG and TIG.
- Check dimensions and visually inspect completed work against quality requirements.
- Report defects, equipment issues and safety concerns promptly.
- Attend college and complete all apprenticeship training, coursework and assessments.
Day to day
Activities:
- Collect and prepare materials, tools, PPE and welding equipment.
- Practise and complete welding and fabrication tasks with guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Use measuring equipment to check component dimensions and alignment.
- Clean and dress welds where required and assist with final quality checks.
- Record work and training evidence and keep the work area clean and organised.
You can work as a qualified semi-skilled welder or fabrication assistant in industries like construction, manufacturing, and automotive. You could also progress to a Level 3 Plate Welder apprenticeship or specialise in specific advanced techniques like high-pressure pipe welding.
