The main responsibilities are as follows:
* Monitoring all aspects of the membership policy.
* Monitoring the Society's Community & Charity strategy with a commitment to delivering impact in the communities we serve.
* Reviewing and monitoring the Society's sustainability ambitions in line with the Society's strategy.
* Monitoring the effectiveness of the key activities to deliver the strategic objective related to Membership, Community, Charity and Sustainability.
* Committee members will need to evidence the ability to think strategically, scrutinise and analyse information and to provide recommendations to the Board on key matters.
* Committee members will be required to monitor the execution of key strategies and plans ensuring progress is being made and that implementation is delivered to the required time frames and standards.
* Committee members should evidence their commitment to the Co-operative values and an understanding of the Co-operative principles. Other key duties will include the following (though not an exhaustive list):
* Reviewing plans concerning the development of the Society's member engagement strategy, including recommendations to the Board on all aspects of the membership policy.
* Reviewing the plans for delivering Meaningful Membership, member offers and member pricing
* Reviewing the plans to grow membership and how members should be involved.
* Reviewing the approach for profit distribution and determination for members approval.
* Reviewing and recommending to the Board on the high-level pans for the annual member's meeting and through the annual report.
* Reviewing the results from the Member Panels and making recommendations to the Executive Team and the Board.
* Ensuring charitable donations are based on specific criteria supporting the Society's ESG commitments.
* Ensuring appropriate governance of donation activities and the provision of community & charity data to enable activities to be tracked and monitored including measuring impact.
* Working in close consultation with the Community & Charity team in deciding on the allocation of the tiered Helping Hearts Award donations. Other key information a. To serve on the Committee, applicants must have been a member of the Society for at least 6 months and to have spent £100 with the Society in the 12-month period. b. Successful applicants must attend at least three community events in every 12 months.
c. The Committee will meet at least four times a year with meetings held in person and via MS Teams. d. The appointment if for an initial period of 3 years Remuneration Members of the Committee will receive £1,000 per annum. Remuneration is subject to review annually.
