Garden Organic is seeking an inspiring individual who is great at making connections and sharing knowledge to be our representative in and coordinate work on the ground in Coventry.

Location: Office based (with regular travel around the Coventry area)
Project Area: Midlands
Reports to: Training Manager
Hours: 2 days per week (0.4 FTE)
Working Pattern: Variable delivery hours inc. Some weekends/evenings
Salary: £24, pro rata
Term: 2 years

Working in partnership with Coventry City Council and local organisations we are supporting communities to access more ‘green’ and ‘blue’ spaces. For us that means supporting organic food growing, seed saving and composting activity in communities.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide expertise & practical support around community food growing and composting. The post holder will be responsible for making positive connections and engaging with local communities, stakeholders and project partners.

The project coordinator will, in consultation with others, design and deliver a training framework that includes, but is not limited to, engaging and inspiring workshops and online modules covering the themes of organic food growing, composting and seed saving.

  • Build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships in the project area, identifying opportunities to increase food growing, waste prevention and seed saving
  • Responsible for planning and co-ordinating project activities in line with the defined objectives and milestones for specifically funded projects (Currently Green for All, Carriers of Hope, Coventry Grows).
  • Act as the day-to-day Garden Organic point of contact for project partners, communities and internal teams.
  • Provide organic growing and composting advice, training and support for beneficiaries at sessions both in-person and online.
  • Support community engagement to reach individuals from all areas of the local community.
  • Responsible for ensuring all arrangements for training/workshop events including venue hire/catering, administration and promotion of events are in place.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of community training sessions & programmes.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the organisations outreach work – sharing learning and opportunities across Garden Organic
  • Administrative tasks as required.
  • Represent and champion Garden Organic's mission, values, and strategic objectives while delivering agreed project outcomes and objectives.
  • Gather project data/evidence/information/photographs and feedback as required, following all Garden Organic and project policies and guidelines.
  • Identify and produce case studies/reports to showcase activity.
  • Assist in project monitoring and evaluation including collating feedback
  • Administrative tasks as required.

It is the nature of work of Garden Organic that tasks and responsibilities are, in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All staff are, therefore, expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises where tasks are not specifically covered in the Job Description have to be undertaken. The nature of work at Garden Organic and working with volunteers and the general public requires a flexible approach to hours of work including evening and weekend working.

A strong understanding of community based projects

A strong knowledge of organic food growing and composting skills and practice

Skilled at developing productive partnerships and collaborative working relationships.

Experience of building effective relationships within communities and supporting community-led initiatives.

Previous experience of working in and supporting communities

Previous experience of co-ordinating and delivering training and events

A team player with good oral and written communication skills

Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate stakeholders and deliver impact

Willing to work remotely

Ability to work effectively and flexibly

Excellent attention to detail

Experienced in quantitative and qualitative evidence collection for outcome and funding purposes
