Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious clinical leader to apply for the position of Ward Manager of Acute Frailty Unit at UHCW NHS Trust. Acute frailty operates as an 11-bedded frailty unit and an Acute frailty SDEC, where patients presenting with frailty syndromes are assessed and supported by a multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of an Acute medicine or Care of the Elderly consultant.
The post holder will hold a vital role within the ward in ensuring patients receive the best care whilst in the hospital. High profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for a defined patient group.
- Make informed decisions within own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.
- Provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their pathway.
- Take bleep‑holder responsibilities for the areas on a regular basis.
- Act as a knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring clinical governance is embedded in practice.
- Support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
- Identify and assess complex clinical and non‑clinical issues, implement resolutions and monitor/audit outcomes.
- Carry out inter‑departmental and organisational activities including HR; complaints; appraisal; hospital bleep‑holder responsibilities on a regular basis and patient flow.
- Undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management, including complex patient monitoring and equipment management.
- Provide education and training provision for identified staff groups, patients and carers within defined areas.
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
- Manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need.
- Support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area (e.g., breaking bad news or following an unexpected event).
- Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
