Senior Theatre Practitioner Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery

Job Summary

Our Cardiac and Thoracic Theatres has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Theatre Practitioner. The role requires competency in Cardiac and Thoracic Anaesthetics and dual training as a scrub practitioner in Cardiac, Thoracic and Thoracic Robotic Surgery. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills to support the team in achieving high standards of patient care within theatres and will receive comprehensive training and full access to a dedicated team of Theatre Clinical Educators.

• Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri‑operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
• Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
• Maintain health, safety, and infection control in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies.
• Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients and monitor drug effects in line with Trust policies.
• Prepare, monitor and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures; take action if found to be faulty.
• Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
• Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
• Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
• Maintain accurate and legible records of care.
