University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Scrub Practitioner to join our dynamic and fast‑paced Main Theatres Department.
Our extensive surgical unit comprises 22 theatres covering 14 specialties, delivering a wide range of complex and elective procedures. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable practitioner with proven scrub experience, particularly in robotic surgery in either Urology, Gynaecology, or General Surgery.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the peri‑operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
- Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
- Maintain health, safety and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
- Prepare, monitor and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
- Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
- Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
- Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
- Maintain accurate & legible records of care.
- Assess requirements of theatre / Anaesthetic for the operating list.
- Provide all necessary equipment and materials for the list.
- Monitor all equipment used, act if found to be faulty.
- Demonstrate knowledge of operative procedures/departmental procedures.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the theatre team and other clinical work areas.
- Acknowledge and value people’s roles within the team.
- Recognize own and others’ limitations within the team.
- Participate in achieving the aims of the department/Trust.
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude to changes in practice within the theatre department and the Trust.
- Reflect theatre philosophy within their work area.
- Recognise, prevent and diffuse areas of conflict within the theatre environment.
- Recognise and forward any complaints from patients/carers/visitors and communicate them to senior staff.
- Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
- Adherence to NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct and all Trust & local policies and procedures.
