The BSOTS framework will be utilised as the primary maternity safety tool to support the timely clinical assessment, prioritisation, and management of pregnant women attending the triage department. This evidence-based approach provides an intuitive and structured method of clinical risk assessment, promoting patient safety, improving patient flow, and ensuring women receive care according to clinical urgency. The triage process will also provide an opportunity to appropriately assess, risk stratify, and signpost suitable women to the Midwifery-Led Birth Centre, supporting informed choice and the effective utilisation of maternity services.

They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of services, supporting staff to deliver evidence-based midwifery-led care and promoting positive outcomes and experiences for women, babies and families.
  • The postholder will be expected to maintain clinical expertise, undertaking Band 7 duties in line with the needs of the service and be required to work clinical as required.

  • A knowledgeable leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
