Job summary
Cuffley and Goffs Oak Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Practice Nurse to join our friendly, welcoming and supportive team.
The successful candidate will work across both of our sites, Cuffley Village Surgery and Valley View Health Centre. We are offering either a full-time position of 37 hours per week or the opportunity for two part-time nurses to share the role, with working days to be agreed.
Interested applicants must have primary care experience. You will be working to improve patient health outcomes and deliver high-quality care to our patients.
Main duties of the job- Chronic disease management (such as diabetes and/or respiratory medicine)
- Cervical smears
- Contraception
- Wound care/leg ulcer care e.g. compressions
- Removal of sutures
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Travel advice and injections
- Routine/childhood immunisations
- ECGs
- Urinalysis
- Health promotions
- Regular clinical meetings
We are a busy practice based over two sites (just one mile apart) which are Valley View Health Centre and Cuffley Village Surgery. We provide services for approximately 13,600 patients. We have a happy, established team that consists of GPs, nurses and HCAs who are all supported by an experienced and organised admin team. We are also joined regularly by colleagues from our primary care network.
We use Systm One as our clinical system and also utilise Accurx and Footfall to support our processes.

Essential
- A relevant nursing degree and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a general practice setting or equivalent.
- Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN;
Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications. - Competence (or willingness to learn) to undertake Asthma, COPD and Diabetic clinics / reviews and hold relevant certificates.
Essential
- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care.
- Compassionate, empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work as well as valuing the dignity of our patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Knowledge and application of supporting long-term conditions.
- Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS.
