We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated doctor to join our Paediatric Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service within the Children’s Emergency Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW), on a six-month fixed-term appointment
.

As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will play a key role in assessing, investigating and treating children and young people presenting with acute illness. Clear communication with children and families, appropriate safety-netting and safeguarding will be central to your practice.

During this six-month appointment, you will have opportunities to contribute to the development of Paediatric SDEC pathways, departmental teaching, clinical audit and quality improvement. You will also support and supervise junior colleagues, helping to maintain a supportive and inclusive working environment.

The post holder will provide middle-grade clinical care within Paediatric Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), assessing and managing children and young people with acute illness, with consultant support and supervision.

Main Duties Will Include
  • Assessing, investigating and treating children and young people, supporting timely clinical decisions and safe same-day discharge where appropriate.
  • Identifying patients who require admission, specialist review or urgent escalation, and arranging appropriate ongoing care.
  • Communicating clearly with children, young people and their families, providing advice, safety-netting and follow-up arrangements.
  • Working closely with medical, nursing and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to support safe patient flow across Paediatric SDEC and the Children’s Emergency Department.
  • Recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns in accordance with Trust procedures.
