Head Veterinary Surgeon

An exciting opportunity has arisen at a thriving practice in Coventry,for a vet looking to grow their career. This role is perfect for someone ready to take the next step into a lead position or for those already in a similar role who are seeking a new challenge and additional experience.

The ideal candidate will be confident in managing all routine surgical and medical cases. An interest in orthopaedics is advantageous but not essential. The practice has a high caseload of exotics, so experience in this area is preferred. The candidate should be eager to take on a supportive role, building strong relationships with clients, patients, and the wider team. They will manage a team of 5 vets, supporting them clinically and overseeing the day-to-day running of the practice.

People management experience is a plus.

This is a full-time position, offering 40 hours per week on a rota basis, with no out-of-hours (OOH) work.

About the practice:

The successful candidate will work alongside two partners and a friendly team of 5 vets, 5 nurses, two student nurses, and 2 animal care assistants.

The practice offers free onsite parking and excellent transport links, including a train station just a couple of minutes walk away. It is also conveniently close to the M1 and only 40 minutes from both East Midlands Airport and Birmingham Airport.

This practice is a small animal practice with a high caseload of exotics. The practice is modern and spacious, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital X-ray, in-house laboratory, ultrasound, and multi-parameter monitoring.

• A shared bank holiday rota, 3-4 times per year
• A starting salary of £70,000, depending on experience (negotiable for an experienced vet)
• 4.6 weeks of annual leave, increasing to 5.6 weeks after two years of service, plus your birthday off
• £1,500 CPD allowance, with CPD actively encouraged
