Project: UK Housing and Planning SystemCAGE is an established research centre based in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick, recently awarded £7.1 million by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to extend its research programme for five years. The project, led by Dr Nikhil Datta and Dr Amrita Kulka, seeks to generate rigorous quantitative evidence on planning in the UK, create policy recommendations, and communicate findings to policymakers, media and civil society.
Responsibilities- Assist Dr Datta and Dr Kulka in the quantitative analysis of newly constructed planning‑document data combined with housing‑construction, housing‑search, price, banking, credit‑card and other datasets relevant to each sub‑project.
- Learn and apply Big Data techniques through cleaning, processing, validation and integration of data from multiple sources.
- Contribute to the development of research designs, prepare presentations for academic and policy audiences, and draft academic research papers.
- Conduct literature and data reviews, and work closely with the project leaders to disseminate outcomes.
- Completed a master’s degree in Economics by the start date (a completed bachelor’s degree may be considered in exceptional cases).
- Strong interest in the research area, proactive, and willing to work as part of a team.
- Experience or competence in handling large datasets, statistical analysis and research literature reviews.
