We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join our catering team in Coventry, where you will craft exceptional dishes using the finest and freshest ingredients. This position offers an opportunity to balance culinary passion with career development within the UK’s leading food service company.
Salary: £14.21 per hour
Hours:
40 per week – predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional weekends
Shift pattern:
Early shift 7am–2.30pm and late shift 10am–8.30pm
- Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including menu creation, food preparation, and ensuring smooth operations.
- Lead, train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, maintaining high standards of food preparation and cleanliness.
- Ensure every dish is prepared and presented according to venue standards, maintaining consistency and quality.
- Assist in ordering, stock rotation, and inventory control to keep stock levels adequate and waste minimized.
- Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment.
- Work with the Head Chef to control food costs and stay within budget while maintaining top quality.
- Adapt dishes to meet client and customer expectations, including special dietary requirements and requests.
- Take charge of the kitchen when the Head Chef is absent, ensuring the operation runs smoothly.
- Proven experience in high‑quality catering, ideally in a similar venue, with a passion for creating exceptional dishes.
- Strong leadership skills to supervise and motivate a kitchen team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards, with the ability to enforce them.
- Excellent teamwork to collaborate with front‑of‑house and kitchen staff for a seamless customer experience.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Flexibility to assist in all kitchen areas and respond to changing demands during service.
- Passion for food and a deep enthusiasm for culinary arts.
- Creativity and willingness to contribute to menu planning and innovation.
