Shift Leader role at One Stop, part of the Tesco Group, focusing on delivering excellent customer service and safe store operations.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the team to deliver a smooth and enjoyable shopping trip for customers.
  • Open/close the store and manage duty cover, ensuring decisions are in the best interest of customers, colleagues, and safety.
  • Serve as the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager for day‑to‑day queries.
  • Support the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and well‑presented store environment.
  • Prioritise replenishment of products that matter to customers.
  • Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels reflect the correct pricing and presentation.
  • Take immediate action on any overcharges and prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively manage queues to deliver a positive shopping experience.
  • Coordinate colleagues to deliver daily priorities and manage breaks around trade patterns.
  • Be knowledgeable about the store and coordinate actions to implement improvements.
  • Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
  • Deliver clear communication to the team and keep them informed.
  • Simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager.
  • Put customers first and tailor service to meet individual needs.
  • Resolve customer queries and leave customers with a positive impression.
  • Recognise and celebrate colleagues who deliver excellent service.
  • Identify and remove obstacles that affect service delivery.
  • Resolve colleagues’ queries in the Store Manager’s absence or escalate as appropriate.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and arrange cover for short‑term absences or sickness.
  • Act as a recognised Keyholder to support store safety and security.
  • Monitor internal communications and ensure timely action by the team.
  • Coordinate staff to meet customer needs and feed back issues to the Store Manager.
  • Balance time across service and replenishment areas.
  • Support the Store Manager in managing absence, conduct return‑to‑work interviews, and follow absence policies.
  • Build relationships with Area Manager and People Partner, escalating issues in a timely manner and engaging in coaching opportunities.
