Trainee Sales Engineer

About the Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2 years' experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment who is looking to build a long-term career in technical sales.

Joining a well-established supplier of engineering consumables and metal cutting solutions, you will receive full product training, hands‑on support, and clear progression into an external field sales role as you develop your knowledge of the business, products, and customer base.

You’ll become part of a supportive and collaborative team environment where development and progression are genuinely encouraged.

Initially based within the internal sales team, you will learn the products, systems, and customer requirements before progressing into a more customer‑facing external sales position.

Responsibilities will include:

• Building strong relationships with engineering and manufacturing customers
• Supporting customers with product enquiries and technical solutions
• Preparing quotations and processing orders
• Working closely with the wider sales and technical teams
• Learning the company's specialist product range and applications
• Visiting customer sites alongside experienced sales professionals
• Identifying opportunities to support business growth and customer development

This role would suit someone early in their career who is ambitious, motivated, and keen to progress into external sales.

Ideally, you will have:

• 1-2 years' experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
• Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with customers
• A willingness to learn technical products and solutions
• A proactive and positive attitude
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• A full UK driving licence or willingness to obtain one
