Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre (CRMC) is the only organisation in Coventry dedicated to providing impartial and confidential advice, guidance and support to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants living in and around the city. We are a local, medium‑sized organisation which has been welcoming refugees and migrants since 2000. Our aim is to help people to rebuild their lives and achieve their full potential in safety and dignity whilst supporting integration and encouraging active citizenship.
Many stigmatized groups, including racial‑ethnic and religious minorities and those with low income or mental illnesses, regularly face and overcome significant barriers related to their identities. The CRMC openly recognises and values the strength and resilience that people show in overcoming these obstacles, and in doing so promote more equitable outcomes broadly. Our Therapy Service recognises that effectiveness depends on circumstances that permit better outcomes;
providing people with new resources and helping them take advantage of existing learning opportunities. We appreciate that mindsets cannot substitute for other necessary preconditions of self‑care and emotional resilience. Rather, we specialise and credit our intervention by conveying high expectations (creating environments that support strong and resourceful views, reframing identity), such as by sharing strong and agentic self‑presentations.
We currently have a very exciting vacancy for a Therapy Services Counsellor providing talking therapy.
The role requires an individual who can provide counselling to vulnerable adults with complex trauma in Coventry.
