Safer Neighbourhood Officer - Coventry
Current clean driving licence and access to a car essential.
The Safer Neighbourhood Officer is responsible for tackling anti‑social behaviour on estates by using new tools and powers, including the instigation of legal action.
Responsibilities- Understand new tools and powers available to tackle anti‑social behaviour on estates.
- Monitor and progress individual cases, taking appropriate enforcement action and working closely with staff to achieve successful outcomes.
- Liaise with solicitors to obtain advice, progress court applications, and attend hearings when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Services and Concierge teams to determine allocation and deployment of CCTV equipment, lifeline alarms, mobile phones, and other measures, providing support to tenants and referrals to Victim Support when appropriate.
- Implement local neighbourhood plans in a coordinated way to create safe, prideful living environments.
- Ensure enforcement action, including legal remedies, is taken in cases of serious or persistent nuisance or anti‑social behaviour.
- Work with the tenancy sustainment team to support vulnerable customers to remain in their tenancy and minimise enforcement action.
- Coordinate with other teams to align services, particularly with neighbourhood teams, to manage tenancies effectively and create safer neighbourhoods.
- Current clean driving licence and access to a car (essential).
- Relevant professional qualification such as CIH (ideally).
- Knowledge of property structure, fabric and services to specify repairs for tenanted, void dwellings and communal areas.
- Understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks applicable to the social housing sector.
- Knowledge of Housing Tenancy Conditions and associated enforcement processes.
- Experience working for a housing service provider with regular public interaction or comparable experience.
- Basic understanding of the legal framework for dealing with anti‑social behaviour.
- Experience engaging with customers, internal staff, and partner agencies to support business delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to conduct interviews on sensitive tenancy management issues and anti‑social behaviour, providing guidance where needed.
- Resilience and adaptability to change, challenges, obstacles, and conflict, and willingness to embrace new approaches.
- Confidence in lone working and a solid grasp of risk assessment principles.
