We are looking for a Recovery Coordinator to join our team in Coventry
. Your role will focus on identifying, engaging and supporting service users with drug and/or alcohol needs, delivering targeted interventions and robust release planning to reduce substance misuse, re‑offending and associated harm. You will work closely with prisons, probation services, and community-based providers to ensure seamless transitions and timely access to appropriate support on release.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become a prison in‑reach worker on a fixed term basis, engaging service users who are engaged in a cycle of reoffending. This role involves weekly travel to our feeder prison, HMP Hewell, therefore access to a car and valid clean driving licence is essential for this role.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
* Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
ResponsibilitiesAbout the role:
- Act as a key liaison between prison in‑reach teams and community drug/alcohol services to support continuity of care, shared case management, and coordinated risk reduction planning.
- Carry out prison‑based screenings, initial assessments, and risk assessments, developing recovery plans in partnership with service users prior to release.
- Provide harm reduction education, overdose prevention, and relapse management planning with service users in custody and following release into the community.
- Deliver and promote Naloxone provision pre‑ and post‑release, and train service users and peers in its use where appropriate.
- Offer “through‑the‑gate” support including gate pickups where appropriate and facilitate access to community recovery services, housing, and health appointments upon release.
- Conduct home visits, hostel visits, and community outreach as needed to maintain engagement, particularly with high‑risk individuals and those at risk of disengagement.
- Work collaboratively with police, probation, mental health, housing, and social care partners to address the complex needs of high‑risk service users and promote recovery and rehabilitation.
- Empathy and Understanding: A strong grasp of substance misuse issues and experience working in similar fields.
- Clear Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in IT.
