Agency Contract | Full-Time | Start ASAP
We Do Social Work is recruiting an experienced Elective Home Education (EHE) Officer to join Coventry City Council on an interim basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring children educated outside of mainstream school receive a suitable education while promoting their safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
The Role
As an EHE Officer, you will lead on the effective monitoring of Elective Home Education cases, ensuring the Local Authority fulfils its statutory responsibilities. Working closely with families, schools and partner agencies, you will support children and young people while ensuring robust safeguarding practices are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on the effective monitoring and oversight of Elective Home Education (EHE) cases.
Maintain accurate records and reporting systems to ensure statutory compliance.
Develop and improve EHE policies, procedures and working practices.
Ensure children and young people receiving Elective Home Education are accessing a suitable education.
Identify and respond to requests for school places, alternative education and additional support, including health provision where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes.
Identify, assess and escalate safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate action is taken in line with statutory guidance.
Provide advice and guidance to parents and professionals regarding Elective Home Education legislation and responsibilities.
About You
Experience working within Elective Home Education, Education Welfare, Attendance, Inclusion or Children's Services.
Strong knowledge of education legislation, safeguarding and Local Authority statutory duties.
Excellent communication, case management and organisational skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with families while maintaining professional challenge where required.
Enhanced DBS and the ability to start at short notice are desirable.
