We are recruiting an experienced and compassionate Outreach Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join a specialist service supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse
, including individuals from BME/BAME and refugee communities
.

What will you be doing?

We will manage a caseload and provide specialist one-to-one practical and emotional support to women experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing risk and needs assessments
  • Developing safety plans and individual support plans
  • Providing advice, advocacy and emotional support
  • Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Supporting women with housing, benefits, legal and social welfare matters
  • Making referrals to specialist and statutory services
  • Working with external agencies through multi-agency working
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential case records
  • Supporting community outreach, drop-ins and awareness activities
Who are we looking for?

We would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience or knowledge of:

  • Domestic Abuse / DVA
  • Supporting vulnerable women and children
  • Safeguarding and risk assessment
  • Forced Marriage
  • FGM
  • No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
  • Working with BME/BAME and refugee communities
Language and Cultural Skills

A strong understanding of the cultural barriers that can affect women accessing domestic abuse services is highly valued.

Additional language skills would be advantageous, particularly Urdu, Hindi, Mirpuri, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali, Farsi, Pashto, Somali or other African/community languages
.

Additional Requirements
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
