Evri Group is the UK’s premier parcel delivery business, uniting four distinct brands—Evri, Evri Premium, a network of DHL, UK Mail and Irish e-commerce specialist Coll-8—to deliver more than 1 billion parcels and letters annually across the UK and to over 200 global destinations. With 12,000 colleagues, 30,000 couriers and drivers, 8,000 vehicles, and a nationwide network of hubs, depots and fulfilment centres, we combine over 50 years of expertise with the scale and flexibility to support everyone from casual senders to SMEs and major retailers.

Driven by our friendly, ambitious and diverse people, we are passionate about delivering exceptional service and offer exciting opportunities across the Evri Group.

We're looking for a Transport Shift Manager on a night shift to join our fast-paced transport operation. Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our overnight transport team, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of thousands of parcels while delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9:30pm to 6:00am

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing team in a dynamic logistics environment where no two nights are the same.

What You'll Be Doing

As Transport Shift Manager, you'll be responsible for the successful delivery of the overnight transport operation, managing Transport Supervisors and drivers while driving operational performance and employee engagement.

  • Lead and develop a team of Transport Supervisors and drivers to deliver safe, efficient, and high-performing operations.
  • Ensure timely dispatch and effective driver debrief processes.
  • Manage a high-volume transport operation, handling up to 350,000 parcels daily during peak periods.
  • Support forecasting, peak planning, resource allocation, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee fleet utilisation and driver scheduling to meet operational demands.
  • Take ownership of shift performance, service levels, compliance, health & safety, and employee engagement.
  • Analyse operational data, identify performance gaps, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Produce shift reports, investigate KPI failures, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and team briefings.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Complete audits, risk assessments, and maintain safe systems of work.
  • Act as deputy for the Transport Operations Manager when required.

What you’ll bring to the role:

We're seeking an experienced transport leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and has the ability to motivate teams while delivering outstanding results.

  • CPC National Qualification and a full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous transport or logistics management experience within a fast-paced operation.
  • Strong understanding of transport compliance, operational best practice, and fleet management.
  • Experience using transport systems such as Isotrak, TMS, and Tachomaster.
  • A confident decision-maker who thrives under pressure and can work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to improve performance and drive results.
  • Proven experience leading, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive, people-focused leader with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering outstanding results.

Evri Group for everyone

We’recommitted to building a truly inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can bring – and be – their whole authentic selves.

We’re also on a mission to be the UK’s most accessible delivery business. We’ve partnered with Scope, the leading disability equality charity, to improve deliveries for millions of customers and give extra support to our colleagues and couriers who need it.

Collaboration is key because we work better together. Bring passion, ambition and an open mind, and in return we’ll give you respect, flexibility and a place where you can thrive.
