St. Louise de Marillac School is seeking a dedicated long-term substitute to cover a maternity leave. The substitute must have experience teaching Math at the middle school level – 6th, 7th and 8th grades (Algebra
1) as well as Religion for 6th grade. The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and be passionate about their faith and mathematics instruction as well as have a commitment to academic excellence, and dedication to nurturing the personal growth of every student. The ideal candidate will provide engaging, standards-based math instruction while fostering a classroom environment rooted in faith, respect, and high expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Uphold the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church while serving as a positive Christian role model for students.
• Teach Middle School Math (6th grade math, 7th grade math and 8th grade Algebra
  1) and Religion to 6th grade using engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes critical thinking
• Serve as the 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher, fostering a supportive and positive classroom community.
• Use of Google Classroom to post classroom assignment and lesson notes
• Implement lessons as designated by the regular classroom teacher
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.
• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress regularly with families.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment
• Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid California Teaching Credential or ability to obtain appropriate certification.
• Experience teaching middle school mathematics is required
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
