Title: Specialist II, Charter Schools

The following duties are representative of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Tasks and responsibilities will be in concurrence with implementing the Strategic Plan and Federal Programs guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in coordinating collaborative meetings and technical support for charter schools
  • Acts as the second stage of escalation for parent/community member concerns
  • Supports the department during the charter school petition and renewal processes; serves as an initial reviewer of charter school petitions and letters of intent to determine if schools can proceed in the pipeline
  • Monitors charter school operations for compliance with established District, State, and Federal policies and procedures and/or charter waivers
  • Assists department with the coordination of data collection for performance dashboards, required contract deliverables, and annual reviews (e.g., annual audits, evaluations, and reports)
  • Contributes to the development of internal policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines for operations between internal departments and charter schools
  • Pulls, organizes, and maintains data and reports from Infinite Campus (IC), ensuring accuracy and timely submission for school, district, and state compliance purposes
  • Compiles, organizes, and prepares monthly compliance reports; ensures accuracy and distribution of all required documentation
  • Maintains tracking systems for special education services, including timelines for evaluations, annual reviews, and re-evaluations
  • Organizes and implements special projects for the department, as directed
  • Reviews and/or compiles due dates for annual IEPs, re-evaluations, and initial evaluations to support compliance with IDEA timelines
  • Assists with uploading and verifying documentation in online platforms (e.g., Infinite Campus, GO-IEP, Epicenter)
  • Supports preparation of documentation for state monitoring visits, corrective action plans, and internal audits
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • An Associate's degree or equivalent completed college coursework from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related area from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related industry experience is required. Experience working with Federal Programs and grants, or closely related experience, is preferred.
