Overview
Continuous Improvement Manager – Distribution at BD (Tissuemed Ltd). The role focuses on process efficiencies and delivering cost savings to the NASC business. The Optimization Manager will enhance distribution center efficiency through deployment of lean methodologies via BD Production System (BDPS), coaching and mentoring of site associates on lean methodologies, and leadership of CI projects with data collection and visualization. To deliver value, the role identifies, prioritizes, and executes complex projects to increase efficiencies and accuracy of processes while reducing waste/damages.
The role requires selecting appropriate lean tools and techniques as needed.
- Identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities in the distribution centers and enable others to do the same by educating them to see processes and identify waste and inefficiencies
- Scope and value identified opportunities via mapping and measuring processes and establishing baseline metrics
- Recommend prioritization of opportunities to the site leader based on scope and value
- Lead execution of opportunities and/or coach others to lead the execution of selected opportunities by applying project management principles and processes, including change management and successful adoption, to ensure they are executed effectively, on time and on budget
- Map and measure processes and evaluate current state vs. proposed state
- Identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities outside of the DCs that impact the DCs and influence the applicable function and/or BU to take action
- Contribute to DC strategy relative to CI based on site vision, trend analysis, capacity modeling, etc.
- Partner with the CI team to share and/or adopt best practices from across all DCs
- Develop and coach BDPS and a tiered management system with NASC cross-functional teams at the DC and drive for consistent standards and processes
- Education
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, operations management or related degree, or 10 years relevant experience - Certifications
Six Sigma certifications required (or relevant experience). Lean Leader certification required (or relevant experience) - Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a business operations, manufacturing or warehousing environment; a minimum of 3 years of experience implementing change or continuous improvement; experience with Lean Deployment, developing standard processes, writing procedures, mentoring, and training groups of associates - Knowledge
Knowledge and experience in Distribution, Manufacturing, project management, and engineering within a GMP medical device environment (preferred but not required); working knowledge of Process Validation for medical device manufacturing; strong Lean/CI methodologies; project management; familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) - Abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities across a multi-shift operation; influence through change management; hands-on "go & see" mentality on the floor; excellent written and verbal communication; manage multiple projects with varying impact; work independently and influence across levels; lead cross-functional projects with geographically diverse teams; strong analytical and problem-resolution skills - Travel
15-20% domestic
