Healthcare Preconstruction Manager

Kent Design Build is seeking an experienced Healthcare Preconstruction Manager to join our growing team. This position will lead preconstruction efforts for specialized healthcare construction projects, with a particular focus on diagnostic imaging, pharmacy facilities, and other complex healthcare environments.

The Healthcare Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for overseeing technical project development, estimating, budgeting, and construction planning from initial concept through project handoff. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project partners to develop practical, cost-effective construction solutions.

• Lead preconstruction efforts for specialized healthcare projects, including diagnostic imaging, interventional procedures, surgical environments, sterile processing, and USP 797/800 pharmacy facilities.
• Develop conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction document estimates to establish accurate project budgets.
• Manage scope development, subcontractor solicitation, bid evaluations, cost analysis, value engineering, and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals.
• Collaborate with owners, end users, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and subcontractors to establish project requirements and ensure alignment throughout preconstruction.
• Evaluate project constructability, infrastructure requirements, existing conditions, regulatory considerations, and potential scope gaps.
• Develop construction plans that account for operational constraints and phasing requirements within active healthcare environments.
• Identify long‑lead procurement items, critical milestones, and potential scheduling challenges early in the project development process.
• Develop preliminary construction schedules and coordinate preconstruction deliverables to support successful project execution.
• Work closely with the operations team to ensure an organized and effective transition from preconstruction to construction.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Strong experience in commercial construction preconstruction, preferably with a focus on healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of specialized healthcare construction requirements, particularly diagnostic imaging and pharmacy environments.
• Experience developing construction estimates, project budgets, subcontractor scopes, and GMP proposals.
• A strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, project scheduling, and constructability.
• The ability to review architectural and engineering documents, identify potential challenges, and develop practical solutions.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience collaborating with owners, design teams, equipment manufacturers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail throughout the preconstruction process.

This position is preferably based at Kent Design Build's office in Covington, Louisiana, with flexibility for candidates based near other KDB office locations.
