The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical radiology services in accordance with radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. Demonstrates skill in the use of x‑ray equipment and performance of x‑ray protocols and procedures. Produces high quality exams within the required time frame.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates working knowledge of PACS and reviews scans with Radiologists as needed for important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities.
- Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every procedure.
- Administers patient care according to department and hospital policies to ensure patient safety; communicates with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent; explains procedures to patients and families.
- Responds to critical test findings and follows up appropriately; acquires and evaluates patient lab values when applicable (e.g., BUN, creatinine, pregnancy, glucose).
- Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat, safe condition; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports dangerous conditions; maintains supplies and cleanliness; disinfects equipment and linens as needed.
- Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy; participates in department QC and PI programs; follows sterile technique and hand hygiene; adheres to body substance isolation policies.
- Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient departmental operations; records information accurately; performs routine clerical duties as assigned; inputs and verifies data in PACS/RADIANT.
- Education and Experience:
Preferred completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program with healthcare experience in radiology.
- Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers – American Heart Association - Required:
Radiology Technician (ARRT) – Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board Of Examiners (LSRTBE)

- Physical demands:
Medium work; lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently; numerous other physical activities listed in the job description. - Typical work activities:
Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, wrist movements, fine motor skills, keyboard use; continuous talking or hearing; varied shift hours.
