Medical Assistant APN - RO

Summary

Assists physicians in delivering patient care in the ambulatory setting. The MA assists in the delivery of patient care to people of diverse backgrounds and must be able to effectively communicate and assist the patients and their families.

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, enter all medical documents/records in EMR system, complete all measures needed for meaningful use.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations; assist physician in exam rooms.
• Assist physicians with all patient care, medication refills, ordering of diagnostic testing. Coordinate continuity of patient care with healthcare organizations and facilities.
• Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette. Return all patient calls and messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
• Operate computer software and office equipment.
• Perform other duties as needed to assist coworkers, which may include schedule/reschedule patient appointments, check in/out patients, answering phones, etc.

• Assists other staff members in performing any duty that enhances the delivery of patient care.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of related work experience.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions, standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
