Responsibilities- Provide medical assistance to the physician/nurse practitioner in a professional, caring, efficient and compassionate manner.
- Handle patient phone calls and care of patients in the office.
- Perform EKGs and CLIA waived tests as appropriate.
- High school diploma. Must have good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Current BLS certifications through any ILCOR-provided courses such as Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
- Ability to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions; maintain confidentiality; work independently with little supervision.
- Displays tact and diplomacy in interpersonal skills. Keeps BLS Certification current at all times.
- Licensed Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited school.
- Current Licensed Practical Nursing license. Maintains annual and continuing education credits; keeps license current at all times.
- Accredited Medical Assistant Program Certification or equivalent on-the-job training consisting of 3 or more years. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in a physician office setting preferred.
- Physician’s office experience preferred. Experience with EPIC (EMR) is a plus, along with insurance processes required within a clinical setting.
- Must possess good physical health. Standing, sitting or walking for long periods; lifting at least 50 pounds; ability to work with a moderate level of noise.
- Constant (67%-100%): handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing.
- Frequently (34%-66%): reaching.
- Occasionally (1%-33%): lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching.
