The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal departmental functions. Demonstrates and implements skills and knowledge in using all radiographic and/or CT/MR equipment, following all related protocols and procedures. Engages in producing high quality imaging exams/images within the appropriate length of time for required radiologic procedure. Maintains compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Day to Day- Confirms patient's identity, body part and body side for every patient prior to the imaging procedure.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of radiology equipment and procedures and engages in producing quality radiographic exams.
- If needed, reviews exams with the radiologists as to important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities.
- Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies.
- Communicates with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient or patient’s chart to assist in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination.
- Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
- Acquires and evaluates patient lab values to ensure they are within acceptable limits when applicable. Responds and follows up on critical test findings.
- Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat, clean and safe condition. Cleans and disinfects equipment maintains supply of linen in the room.
- Ensures safety of patients and employees. Checks and inspects the suite, equipment and accessories daily for physical and mechanical hazards.
- Troubleshoots malfunctions and reports dangerous conditions to the appropriate person.
- Checks stock supply levels and maintains supplies at par level and assists with supply maintenance and utilization.
- Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements.
- Participates in department QC and PI programs, follows up on all deficiencies.
- Maintains proper sterile or aseptic technique for procedures as indicated.
- Always washes hands before and after each patient contact.
- Adheres to the hospital policy on body substance isolation.
- Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operation.
- Inputs and verifies all data in EMR (EPIC) and PACS/RIS.
- Performs other routine clerical duties as assigned.
Experience Qualifications
- Required:
1 year of experience as a registered technologist. - Required:
1 year of CT or MRI technology experience
Education Qualifications
- Required:
Associates Degree from an accredited institution or 2-year certification program in Radiologic Technology (including training from United States Armed Forces).

Two advanced modality registries required (MRI, CT, US, Mammography)
