Crane Operator - FRICTION
OverviewPrimary Function:
Operate cranes according to API RP 2 D & 2C Standards. Must have at least 10 years as an operator. Able to work alone as an operator, in heights, and to identify and address crane problems (assist Mechanic or fix it yourself). Operators are not always on a set schedule and must be available when called upon. Provide daily oversight for Gulf Crane Services, monitor equipment functionality, and act as a company representative with customers in the field.
Report to Senior Service Coordinator.
- Oversee the operation of equipment at field locations
- Ensure all customer requirements for equipment are met
- Keep records and logs of all maintenance activities
- Develop beneficial relationships with clients
- Check surroundings before making decisions
- Capable of taking off heavy lifts from boats or platforms
- Competent/proficient with “Personnel Handling Operations”
- Verify load range before making a lift
- Know when to use the emergency stop
- Complete all paperwork thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Understand and comply with all safety and environmental requirements
- Understand and comply with operating and technical procedures and workplace instructions
- Perform any other duties as required by the Senior Services Coordinator
- High School Graduate, GED certificate, or industry-related experience
- Language – Must be able to write and speak English
- Safety:
Climbing – multiple flights of stairs throughout the day and above 6 ft. must have safety harness on - Drug & Alcohol Screen – Must have all prescriptions with proper name on it;
Gulf Crane Services has a “Zero Tolerance” program - Pulling – ability to pull your own weight along a vertical ladder or horizontal plane
- Lifting – able to lift 50 lbs.
- Grip Strength – ability to hold body weight for a 10-second proficiency test on a swing rope (simulated)
- PPE – Must wear FRC clothing offshore; steel-toe boots with heel to prevent slipping
