Job Overview
GI Alliance is seeking an experienced RN for a part‑time ASC role.
Position
Purpose:
Responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, and medical care evaluation by following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care and serves as primary liaison among patients, staff, and physicians.
- Verify patient consent for procedures and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Obtain and document health history, vital signs, health risk factors, and assess patient.
- Provide patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
- Document patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems.
- Maintain/review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information; organize documentation to establish a concise record of the health care delivered.
- Respond to incoming patient procedure‑related phone calls.
- Assist patients and physicians during procedures; understand each procedure and equipment used.
- Learn scope of reprocessing techniques utilized by the facility.
- Prepare and administer all medications used in the facility.
- Use complete assessment skills to monitor the patient and perform corrective measures where indicated; provide pre‑ and post‑procedure teaching to patients.
- Attend and actively participate in department meetings and in‑services offered.
- Other duties as directed or assigned.
- RN degree; completion of nursing training from an accredited nursing school.
- Professional nursing experience; gastroenterology and IV placement experience preferred.
- Current state registered nurse license and BLS certificate.
- Knowledge of nursing processes, health care systems, structures, and community resources.
- Understanding of healthcare technology, equipment, and supplies; familiarity with state law on nursing care, practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
- Ability to apply and modify professional nursing principles for ongoing patient care.
- Time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Initiate appropriate crisis interventions and emergency responses calmly and effectively.
- Patient triage in person and on the phone.
- Interpret physician orders.
- Calculate and administer drug dosages and injections; document results.
- Maintain quality control standards.
