At Academy Sports + Outdoors, our purpose is to make it easier for everyone to enjoy more sports and outdoors. Our Store Team Members are an essential part of customer service in any Academy store. They are responsible for ensuring fast, friendly customer service, helping customers navigate the abundance of choices Academy has to offer, and positively impacting customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s mission.

• Provide fast, friendly customer service and assist customers in finding products.
• Help customers navigate the Academy product assortment and answer questions about features and benefits.
• Contribute to customer satisfaction, store profitability, and Academy’s mission.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Associates or Bachelor's in Criminal Justice preferred (Asset Protection Team Member only).

• Previous related work experience preferred.
• Operating POS equipment, symbol, and telephone preferred (Cashier only).
• In-direct support of people and processes to drive operational excellence and meet sales targets (Cashier only).
• 4+ years of personal outdoor hobbies, interests, and skills; fishing and hunting experience preferred (Outdoor Enthusiast only).
• CPR and First Responder certification is a plus (Asset Protection Team Member only).
• Loss Prevention or Criminal Justice background is a plus (Asset Protection Team Member only).

• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Ability to connect with customers and build rapport; bilingual a plus.
• Effective problem solving and communication with customers and team members.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with strong organization and attention to detail.
• Read, interpret and follow safety and operation manuals, planograms, and procedures.
• Proficient use of basic mathematics and common sense to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Operate POS equipment and telephone; coach others as needed (Cashier only).
• General inventory software and order processing familiarity (Cashier only).
• Passionate about outdoors activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, etc. (Outdoor Enthusiast only).
• Must meet federal and state requirements for selling firearms (Fishing and Hunting Sales Team Member Only).
• Proficient use of basic tools and cleaning equipment.
• Provide prompt, friendly customer service to all team members and customers.
• Emergency response procedures and strong situational awareness.

• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
• Occasional lifting up to 60 pounds; frequent walking, reaching, and talking.
• Specific vision abilities required: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
