We are looking for a RENTAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN to join our growing operations at our Covington Rents, Louisiana location.
Salary Potential60,000 - $72,000 yearly range. The yearly range indicated is representative of the hourly rate, including typical overtime. This range is based on a technician’s experience, skills, education and training. For technicians, overtime is typically calculated on a daily basis after 8 hours worked.
Your ValueThe person in this role will be responsible for servicing and repairing construction rental heavy equipment in the shop or in the field.
Your Contribution- You will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all components of heavy rental equipment including engines, power trains, hydraulics and fuel systems.
- You will read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics, and other specifications to determine the repair method on failed components.
- You will replace or repair defective components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
- You will assemble and install electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment using hand or power tools.
- You will rebuild install and align pump assemblies utilizing safe rigging methods using hand or power tools.
- You will create, track and formalize work order documents on a timely basis.
- You will have the ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You will promote positive customer service for Louisiana Cat Rental Stores according to Caterpillar and Louisiana Cat expectations.

- REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or (GED) equivalent. - REQUIRED:
Minimum of 3 years of field experience. - REQUIRED:
Strong mechanical Aptitude. - REQUIRED:
Basic understanding of hand tools. - REQUIRED:
Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. - REQUIRED:
Ability to work in a team environment. - Must own required tool inventory. Louisiana Cat offers exclusive Tooling Program (specific discussed during interviews).
- Strong customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor and always "safety-first" mentality every hour of every day.
- SHIFT
SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday 7am - 5pm; may require working hours outside standard work schedule (specifics discussed during interviews). - WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Requires physical movement, lifting, squatting, bending, climbing, and working with mechanical rotating parts in the Louisiana climate.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift 75 pounds from floor to chest. The employee must have the ability to reach and use the arms within a full range of motion in order to retrieve stocked parts.
The employee must have the ability to endure prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to exert push/pull forces with the arms in order to use various wrenches and tools. The employee must be able to endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to use the hands to grasp hand tools and parts.
The employee must have the ability to climb onto and operate equipment. The employee must have the ability to operate and maintain a field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs.
