SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Commercial Route Supervisor oversees daily service delivery to commercial Waste Pro customers, ensuring safety, timeliness, and cost-efficiency in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulations. This role embodies Waste Pro's Core Values and applies Positive Leadership principles in supervising drivers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervise drivers and daily operations; greet drivers, ensure pre/post trip inspections, and communicate key service points and safety issues.

Maintain a clean, safe work environment adhering to company policies.

Implement Decision Driving techniques; ensure adherence to safety guidelines; lead weekly safety meetings.

Manage new service routes; review productivity reports; optimize routes for efficiency; coordinate can removal when services are canceled.

Ensure quality service delivery; respond to dispatch calls/messages; address customer issues; coordinate with city and municipal agencies for timely service.

Conduct route safety observations; ensure proper can and equipment maintenance; identify training needs.

Monitor driver inspections; address mechanical issues with the shop; oversee driver time, attendance, and compliance with DOT regulations.

Handle accident and injury reports; participate in investigations and claims.

Train new employees and conduct performance evaluations; manage disciplinary actions.

Ensure daily cleaning of front loaders; assist routes as needed to cover shortages.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in training courses; stay updated on relevant technology; perform additional duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Outside supervision in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years in transportation, management, logistics, or waste industry; or an Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of Smith System and Decision Driving principles.
Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI regulations.
Valid Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within 3 months.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently, make decisions, and handle operational issues flexibly.
Physical ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds; work outdoors in various weather conditions.
