Ice Cream Facilities Technician
Location:
Covington, TN
Pay: $30.30 per hour + $2 night shift differential. Paid bi‑weekly. Performance bonus eligible.
Job PurposeThis position works independently to ensure timely, effective coverage of basic facilities maintenance functions within the plant. The role provides technical process support throughout the facilities and assists with production maintenance troubleshooting and repairs as needed. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with all levels of plant personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general facilities maintenance, including painting, drywall repair, grouting, basic electrical repair (up to 480 v), plumbing, HVAC filter replacement, and ceiling grid repair.
- Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and recommend continuous improvement ideas.
- Complete and file all required logs and work orders in the site CMMS system.
- Observe all safety guidelines, company rules, and GMPs during work.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Help coordinate weekend maintenance functions, including manufacturing and utilities.
- Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts safely and maintain certifications.
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments ranging from –20 °F to 105 °F.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure readiness for upcoming work orders.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to learn all functions of the job within a reasonable amount of time.
- Ability to work various hours and shifts (8‑, 10‑, or 12‑hour shifts) and overtime as needed.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds several times per hour.
- Basic facilities maintenance experience required.
- Ability to become HAZWOPER and NFPA 70E certified.
- Certified on forklifts and man lifts.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, complete simple reports, and communicate effectively with team members.
- Basic math skills for measurements, percentages, and ratios.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to inspect components for proper dimensions and alignment.
- Comfortable working with tools and equipment, requiring good hand‑eye coordination.
- Ability to hear machinery sounds and distinguish colors for wiring and components.
Variable, consisting of office areas, mix rooms, and manufacturing floors. Potential hazards include proximity to moving machinery, chemical exposure, and heavy lifting. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and sanitary footwear. Exposure to allergens (dairy, eggs, nuts, wheat, soy) and chemicals such as ammonia is possible.
