Rainier Youth Choirs is hiring a part-time Artistic Director to lead and grow our high-quality community choral music program based in Covington, WA. We’re celebrating our 20th season this year, along with the retirement of our founding Artistic Director, Leora Schwitters.
This is a part-time independent contractor position (approximately 15-20 hours per week), designed to fit alongside other work, such as school, church or university teaching.
Our performance season runs from September through June, and the selected candidate will assume full leadership in July 2027. We’re also offering an optional paid transition period beforehand to become familiar with our program and plan alongside Leora.
The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys teaching young voices (2nd-12th grade) and wants to build strong connections with singers, families, and the broader South King County communities that RYC serves.
The position pays $30,800 – $33,700 annually for the Artistic Director role and conducting one ensemble, negotiable based on experience. Additional compensation is available for conducting a second ensemble.
Please share this opportunity with anyone you think might be a great fit or reach out if you have any questions.
