Working alongside experienced Project Managers, Project Directors and technical specialists, you will contribute to the successful delivery of a wide range of flood risk management and resilience projects for clients including the Environment Agency, National Resources Wales and other public and private sector organisations.
The Opportunity We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing Flood Risk Management team, based in Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff or Bristol.
You’ll support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of flood risk, climate resilience and wider infrastructure projects, working alongside experienced Project Managers, Project Directors and technical specialists. This is an excellent opportunity to build your project management career while contributing to nationally significant projects that help communities adapt to climate change, reduce flood risk and deliver positive environmental outcomes.
You’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, supporting project planning, commercial management, governance, stakeholder engagement and project controls. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to help deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while developing your experience in client and project delivery.
The role also offers the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio, including flood alleviation, coastal resilience, river, asset management and climate adaptation projects, giving you broad experience across the infrastructure and environmental sectors.
Is this role right for you? We are seeking the below essential skills and knowledge: Experience in project management, engineering, environmental or consultancy.
Understanding of project planning, budgets, programmes, risk and project controls.
Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good commercial awareness and understanding of change management. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
Microsoft Project is desirable.
Interest in flood risk, water, climate resilience or infrastructure.
Working towards or holding APM, CIWEM, ICE, PMI or equivalent membership.
We also appreciate the following skills:
Familiarity with NEC contracts and project governance processes.
Understanding of business case development, appraisal, asset management or infrastructure delivery programmes.
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or environmental consultancy teams.
