Electrician/ Electrician Installation, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Position Function:
Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, perform maintenance, repair, and renovation work in school buildings and facilities, including electrical fixtures, and perform related duties and general maintenance work as assigned.
- Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, and apparatus.
- Prepare sketches or follow diagrams/blueprints for wiring and equipment installation.
- Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
- Connect power cables, install grounding leads, and test circuit continuity for safety and compatibility.
- Monitor equipment functioning to detect hazards, make repairs or recommendations.
- Maintain records of electrical work and repairs.
- Study building plans to determine needed tools, materials, and equipment.
- Move equipment, materials, and furniture as needed.
- Establish estimates of time and material costs for projects.
- Inspect equipment and facilities, recommend repairs or replacements.
- Order materials to ensure adequate supplies for electrical systems.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Safety RequirementsFollow all safety rules, procedures, and regulations for electrical work.
Travel RequirementsFrequent travel between schools or to central offices may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of electrical tools, materials, practices, and standards.
- Ability to follow work orders and coordinate with others.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and cooperative working relationships.
- Exposure to high voltage and electrical currents.
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions.
Combination of education and experience, such as vocational training or an apprenticeship in electrical trade. Successful journeyman experience preferred.
License or Certificate- Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
- State electrical license (E-1 Master license required).
