Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. Responsibilities- Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products that match the ordered portion size.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
- Use all bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store's layout and locate products requested by customers.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
