Senior Business Analyst

Reed in Partnership, a British family‑owned company delivering public services since 1998, invites applications for an 18‑month fixed‑term Senior Business Analyst role.

Pay Range
: £45,000 to £65,000. Working pattern:
Full‑time (part‑time considered). Remote with occasional travel to the office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the analysis of service contracts, bid documentation and commissioner requirements to understand business goals, constraints and value drivers.
  • Define current‑state and future‑state service models and identify necessary changes across people, process, data, technology and supply‑chain partners.
  • Conduct option analysis, gap analysis and impact assessments to support service design and implementation decisions.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and walkthroughs, validate full service designs, processes and requirements with senior and operational stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies and assumptions, and ensure appropriate mitigations are in place.
  • Document clear end‑to‑end service delivery maps, business outcomes, epics and user stories with acceptance criteria to a sprint‑ready standard.
  • Maintain traceability from contractual requirements through to operational processes and supporting systems.
  • Apply Human‑Centred Design principles to understand user needs and pain points.
  • Act as a trusted professional between business units, the change team and commissioners to align expectations.
  • Work closely with project managers, technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, develop solutions and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to post‑implementation reviews and lessons learned to improve service realisation outcomes, methodologies and processes.
  • Provide leadership in improvement initiatives within the team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience leading Business Analysis and service design activities in complex, diverse environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, using data to underpin strategic and tactical decision‑making.
  • Proven ability to document and manage requirements, translating business needs into effective solutions through use cases, process and data models and system specifications.
  • Working knowledge of UML, BPMN and BA tools such as Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, Excel and digital collaboration tools (e.g. Miro).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative, customer‑focused, value‑driven mindset; comfortable working with ambiguity and iterative delivery approaches.
  • Highly organised, able to balance competing priorities in fast‑paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of technology trends, market landscapes and emerging solutions.
  • Relevant professional certifications (IIBA, BCS, Agile BA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable commitment to continual professional development, with a maintained CPD log.
  • Familiarity with high‑level system context and data flow diagrams, integration requirements and non‑functional needs (performance, security, privacy).
  • Experience facilitating workshops, managing conflicting viewpoints and adapting communications for broad stakeholder groups.
  • Participation in Communities of Practice or similar initiatives to improve Business Analysis capability.
Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge of Human‑Centred Design and Service Design practices.
  • Understanding of APIs, data flows and integration points.
  • Experience in digital transformation or product development environments.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and digital product lifecycle and UX principles.
  • Ability to create user stories, acceptance criteria and lightweight documentation.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence or similar.
  • Procurement process experience, including requirements gathering and vendor evaluation.
  • Understanding of public service contracted provision (e.g. UK Welfare to Work, Preventative Health Services, Justice sector, Youth sector, Testing/Assessment services).
