Yes, anaesthetists are in currently in demand in the UK. According to the Royal College of Anaesthetists, there are more than 1,000 vacancies. This means that many NHS trusts and private organisations are hoping to recruit more anaesthetists.

To become an anaesthetist, you must go to a university and complete a degree that is recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) or complete a doctor degree apprenticeship, which will take around five years. From there, you will need to do a two-year foundation training programme which will allow you to undergo specialist training.
