JR PAT Testing – PAT Engineer (Self‑Employed)

JR PAT Testing is expanding across the UK and is looking for experienced PAT Engineers in Craigavon and commutable areas. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours that can be part‑time or full‑time.

• Conduct portable appliance testing (PAT) on a variety of appliances including kitchen equipment, computers, and other electrical items.
• Travel to different sites (hospitals, retail outlets, offices) and ensure each appliance meets safety standards.
• Interpret test results and communicate findings to users, explaining any required repairs or replacements.
• Accurately record all test data in dedicated test reports or electronic systems, and complete any required paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
• Maintain organized equipment and ensure all testing instruments are calibrated at least once a year.
• Provide diagnostic support and troubleshooting for electrical safety issues.
• Adhere to all relevant regulations and company policies in all work.

• City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
• Self‑employed with own insurance and testing equipment.
• Reliable, honest, with a can‑do attitude.
• Experience in PAT testing comparable to City & Guilds 2377 standards.
• Good organisational skills and ability to travel to multiple sites.
• Ability to set up and use testing equipment including record books and electronic reporting.

• Pay is determined on a pro‑rate basis, based on the rate per appliance, the number of tests, and job dynamics.
• Jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts.
• All payments discussed per assignment.

Engineers are required to keep their testing instruments calibrated at least once a year and maintain insurance coverage. The role involves traveling from site to site, requiring good organisational skills and a reliable vehicle or means of transport. Because the company serves clients nationwide, engineers may travel beyond Craigavon if required, provided commuting distance is reasonable.
